QUOTED FROM POST #45

I've been looking at a laptop solution myself for the last week or so and stumbled upon uniATA without seeing it mentioned here smile.gif After much trial and error (as I too got the INF instance error when using the supplied INF file - thank God for imaging software!), I did this to get it to work:

1. Install the latest VIA drivers from ViaArena (note - if you already have a driver associated with your VIA card, you can skip this).
2. Download the latest uniATA driver from http://alter.org.ua/en/soft/win/uni_ata/. Note - I had better results from version 0.39j, which is still in Beta mode as I write this.
3. Go into Device Manager and check the properties of the driver associated with the SATA card (if it's a standard VIA driver, it's going to be %WINDIR%System32Driversviamraid.sys - Vista users should double-check as when Vista installs it, it's using a differently named VIA driver).
4. Disable the SATA device.
5. Rename the above file (I chose viamraid.sys.old). Copy the uniATA driver into the same folder and rename to match the existing - viamraid.sys.
6. Re-Enable the device - after a couple of seconds, it should show enabled again.
7. You'll get a message about a new device found 'UniATA Port Management'. I just told it to use a driver of my choosing. I chose System Devices, scrolled down to VIA and chose the 'VIA Power Management' which it took without any problems. It's not needed and it just prevents Device Manager from griping about it.

Even with the VIA drivers installed, I still needed to install PortIO32 for Jungleflasher to read the ports correctly, so even with the above steps carried out, make sure you've still installed PortIO32.

Fire up JungleFlasher and you should be able to do everything you need
